About Us

The IEEE Carleton University Student Branch is a vibrant and dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a community of students passionate about engineering, computer science, and related fields.

As part of the larger IEEE Ottawa Section and the IEEE Network, the Carleton branch offers students numerous opportunities for professional development, networking, and hands-on learning. Through workshops, seminars, competitions, and social events, srudents can enhance their technical skills, gain industry insights, and connect with peers and professionals.

The branch is committed to promoting innovation, collaboration, and excellence, making it an essential resource for students aiming to excel in their academic and future professional careers.

What we do

Events

IEEE Carleton along with the other student branches in the city hosts multiple networking events throughout the year that helps bridge the gap between the professional and academic world.

SLAM Workshops

SLAM (Stay Late And Make) is a project support initiative held by IEEE. SLAM provides project funding and resources, and holds various workshops on different engineering topics and skills like MATLAB, CAD, robotics, IOT, VR, AR, and many others.

Women In Engineering (WIE)

The Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of the IEEE Carleton University Student Branch is a vibrant and supportive community dedicated to promoting the participation and success of women in engineering and technology fields.

Main Events

cuHacking

cuHacking is Carleton University's official hackathon event. It's a dynamic and exciting gathering where participants come together to innovate, collaborate, and create solutions to various challenges. Whether you're a tech enthusiast, developer, designer, or simply curious about technology, cuHacking provides a unique platform for you to engage with like-minded individuals, learn new skills, and turn your ideas into reality.

Celebrate WIE Wine and Cheese

Locally, the IEEE WIE student branches at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University seek this brighter future by connecting students with industry leaders, like yourself, through events such as the yearly Wine & Cheese. We have put together this event for now fifteen years to benefit you in seeking the best candidates for internships, coops, and future coworkers.

IEEE Student professional awareness conference

A formal networking event & dinner that serves esteemed professionals and allows them to engage with engineering and computer science students within their fields. SPAC provides students, academics, and industry professionals an opportunity to network and bridge the gap between classrooms and boardrooms, thereby empowering attendees to build professional connections and form a bond.
